  • The introduction of IOTA’s Digital Product Passport enhances transparency and traceability in electronics recycling, promoting more sustainable lifecycle management.
  • IOTA is actively seeking commercial partnerships to bring this technology to the market, signaling a significant move towards incorporating blockchain in environmental sustainability initiatives.

Recently achieving Shari’a compliance as certified by the Cambridge Institute, IOTA has shared an update on the development of their Electronics Digital Product Passport (DPP) prototype. This prototype, developed in collaboration with the Technical University of Catalonia and eReuse, signifies a significant step forward in revolutionizing electronic device lifecycle management, as outlined in the IOTA Blog.

Through a recent tweet, IOTA unveiled their Electronics Digital Product Passport (DPP) prototype, a result of the partnership with the Technical University of Catalonia and eReuse.

[#EBSI Update] 🇪🇺 As part of the @EU_EBSI PCP, we’ve developed an Electronics Digital Product Passport (DPP) prototype with @la_UPC & @eReuseOrg. It leverages #IOTA for transparency & traceability across the lifecycle of electronic devices.🧵⤵️https://t.co/xY84ndSjxL pic.twitter.com/olRHTPrLjy

The DPP developed by IOTA utilizes their technology to improve transparency and traceability in the lifecycle of electronic devices, following their successful Battery DPP initiative.

This prototype, part of the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI) Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) initiative, leverages IOTA’s technology to enhance transparency and traceability in the lifecycle of electronic devices.

New Prototype Enhances Electronics Lifecycle Management

As part of the European Blockchain Pre-Commercial Procurement project funded by the European Commission, the IOTA Foundation has developed two pre-commercial applications for Digital Product Passports (DPPs). The description explains,

A DPP can cover various product types: from primary and secondary materials to components, assembled modules, brand-new products, and individual products with specific configurations and usage histories. In this use case, we focused on unique electronic/ICT products.

IOTA is currently seeking commercial partners to collaborate on advancing this innovative solution to the market, in line with their Battery DPP initiative. Interested organizations looking to revolutionize lifecycle management in the electronics sector are encouraged to explore partnership opportunities with IOTA.

At the time of writing, IOTA is trading at $0.1297, experiencing a 1.33% surge in the past day and a 13.90% decrease in the past week. Refer to the IOTA Price chart below for more details.
