Plastiks, a pioneering plastic recovery verification platform, is now expanding its innovative Cardano-based system for verifying plastic recovery efforts. This platform is dedicated to creating digital records that provide brands and governments with reliable environmental data. By transforming real-world recovery activities into unchangeable certificates on the blockchain, Plastiks is revolutionizing the way we track and verify sustainable practices.
One of the key features of this system is the issuance of Digital Recovery Certificates, also known as Plastic Credits. These certificates are securely recorded on the Cardano blockchain, ensuring transparency and eliminating the risk of false claims. The platform’s commitment to sustainability is further highlighted by its alignment with the blockchain’s energy-efficient design.
Plastiks plays a crucial role in verifying the efforts of recovery organizations such as waste cooperatives and recyclers. By meticulously reviewing documents like invoices and transport records, Plastiks can validate these activities and issue non-tradable NFT certificates that securely store all proof on-chain.
The project has received funding from the Cardano community treasury, Project Catalyst, which has been instrumental in supporting the development of open reporting tools and essential infrastructure for Plastiks’ operations.
In addition to its collaboration with Cardano, Plastiks has also forged a partnership with the United Nations Development Programme. Through a pilot program in Armenia, they are exploring the possibilities of real-time tracking for plastic recovery efforts, showcasing the platform’s potential for global impact.
