In a surprising move, YouTube has removed the long-standing channel Bitcoin.com, which had over 100,000 subscribers and had been active for a decade. The platform cited the content as “harmful and dangerous,” despite Bitcoin.com’s claims that it mainly posted educational material about Bitcoin (BTC), including wallet tutorials and unbiased news. Bitcoin.com criticized YouTube’s AI moderation for allowing continuous crypto scam ads without intervention.

Bitcoin.com’s appeals to YouTube were unsuccessful, leading to a decline in visitor count due to broken video embeds. This incident is part of a trend where YouTube has targeted Bitcoin and crypto-related channels for deletion. Similar channels like BTCsessions and Luke Mikic have faced temporary bans in the past, only to be reinstated after community backlash.

YouTube’s recent crackdown on crypto channels has resulted in a loss of millions of subscribers and revenue for affected creators. Despite CEO Neal Mohan’s emphasis on a creator-friendly approach, the crypto YouTube viewership has hit a five-year low in 2026. The X community has rallied behind crypto YouTubers, arguing that bans should be a last resort given their impact on livelihoods.

Alternative platforms like Odysee, Substack, Spotify, and decentralized messaging apps are being recommended for creators to reach their audience. Jack Dorsey’s Bitchat is highlighted as a decentralized communication platform that offers independence from centralized control. As the crypto community navigates these challenges, CoinPedia continues to provide reliable and accurate updates on cryptocurrency and blockchain developments since 2017.
