The Camino Network Foundation Partners with Lufthansa Systems and Swiss International Air Lines for Blockchain Solutions
The Camino Network Foundation has joined forces with Lufthansa Systems and Swiss International Air Lines to develop cutting-edge blockchain solutions for the travel industry. This collaboration aims to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and promote sustainability within the sector.
A recent web3-focused hackathon held in Frankfurt brought together industry experts to brainstorm and create innovative solutions using blockchain technology and artificial intelligence. Teams from various travel and tech companies worked tirelessly for 48 hours to develop practical solutions that leverage the Camino Network blockchain for the distribution of flight and travel products.
Topics discussed during the hackathon included payment methods, carbon dioxide offsetting, and accessing emerging sales markets. The event showcased the potential for significant cost savings and improved sustainability in the industry.
“The hackathon clearly showed how connections that used to take months can now be established within days. Compared to traditional distribution channels, the new solutions are significantly more efficient – with up to 98% cost savings,” said Pablo Castillo, CEO of Chain4Travel and initiator of the Camino Network.
One notable presentation was the Unimoni team’s solution to integrate 300,000 India-based travel agencies into the Camino Network. Additionally, the SWISS and Digital Hangar team showcased a web3 travel identity solution that includes wallet integration and the issuance of real-world assets.
“The commercial potential of this technology is promising – especially with faster and more efficient partner integration and significantly reduced distribution costs,” said Mickael Woelcke, project manager at SWISS.
The Lufthansa Group will now evaluate which hackathon projects can be piloted for real-world applications. The industry is excited about the possibilities that blockchain technology can bring to the travel sector.
Stay tuned for more updates on how these innovative solutions will shape the future of travel!
