Cassette has recently launched version 0.2.0 of its decentralized storage application, bringing in a host of new features to improve user experience and expand functionality. Utilizing NeoFS, Cassette offers a decentralized storage solution with blockchain-native capabilities.
What’s New?
One of the major updates is the integration of NeoNS, which allows users to assign user-friendly names to their storage containers. These containers, akin to traditional folders, serve as blocks for organizing files within NeoFS. Users can now share containers publicly using either their ID or NeoNS name, accessible through Cassette’s built-in NeoFS browser.
Additionally, Cassette has introduced the Cassette URI scheme (formatted as cstt://
cstt://getcassette.neo/logo.png in a browser will open the file directly within Cassette.
Moreover, Cassette now offers enhanced web hosting capabilities on NeoFS. The new directory upload feature retains the original file and folder structure using the FilePath
attribute. As an example, the Cassette team showcased a Wikipedia page hosted on NeoFS:

History
Cassette, formerly known as GreenFinch, was launched in late 2021 and was awarded the Best Middleware Project at the Neo Polaris Launchpad hackathon. In 2022, GreenFinch secured funding through the GrantShares program, receiving 825 NEO to develop the GreenFinch API. The team rolled out the initial version of their application in 2023 for Windows and Mac on the Neo N3 MainNet.
In June 2024, GreenFinch underwent a rebranding to Cassette along with a complete overhaul of its codebase. The revamp aimed to streamline future development, enabling quicker iteration and feature enhancements.
