The bustling city of Washington, D.C. has always been a magnet for influential figures, including politicians, business magnates, and affluent individuals. This year is no exception, as a wave of officials and associates linked to the Trump Administration have invested in high-end properties in the capital, sparking what is known as the “Trump Bump” in the luxury real estate market. With a combined net worth of over $14 billion among Trump’s cabinet members in 2024, it comes as no surprise that the city’s luxury real estate market is thriving.

The trend of high-value transactions continues to dominate the scene, with notable purchases such as Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick’s record-breaking acquisition of a $25 million Foxhall estate in December 2024. The momentum has spilled over into 2025, with several multi-million dollar transactions already taking place.

While the prices of these properties are eye-watering, they are not uncommon in D.C., especially during the transition to a new administration. Proximity to the Capitol attracts lobbyists, officials, and executives who are willing to pay a premium for luxury living. However, it is worth noting that Florida and California still lead the pack in ultra-luxury real estate sales nationwide.

Here are some of the most expensive home sales in the Washington, D.C. metro area so far in 2025, based on data from Redfin.

  • Sale Price: $23,000,000
  • List Price: $23,000,000

In March, tech mogul Mark Zuckerberg acquired a stunning 16,200 square-foot residence for $23 million, making it the third most expensive home sale in D.C.’s history. The property features modern-contemporary architecture, connected by glass walkways, and is enclosed by a 12-foot-tall iron fence.

  • List Price: $19,995,000

Another notable sale was a grand estate that changed hands for $20 million in July, offering 8 beds, 11.5 baths, and expansive grounds spanning nearly an acre. The property, formerly the site of the Cafritz Mansion, boasts elegant interiors and meticulously landscaped gardens.
