Georgia’s main opposition party, the United National Movement, has introduced a new identity app called United Space, powered by Rarimo, in preparation for the upcoming parliamentary elections on Oct. 26.
United Space, as reported on Alexa Blockchain, aims to address the issue of low voter turnout in Georgia by utilizing blockchain technology to incentivize citizen participation, regardless of their political affiliations. If successful in the elections, the party plans to utilize the app to modernize the Public Service Hall and explore Universal Basic Income, with the benefits flowing back to the citizens.
Using the innovative zero-knowledge social protocol Rarimo, the United Space app intends to implement a liquid democracy model that allows citizens to vote anonymously through the app and receive rewards for their engagement.
United Space is essentially an adapted version of the existing Rarimo ZK proof-of-citizenship solution known as Freedom Tool. What sets Freedom Tool apart is its capability to empower users to establish their own identity by securely uploading their national ID data onto a blockchain registry.
The app offers a secure voting system that eliminates concerns about privacy violations and potential electoral fraud, as the blockchain serves as a safeguard against manipulation.
By preventing external entities, including the government, from monitoring user activities within the app, United Space ensures a high level of anonymity, which is particularly important given the current political climate in Georgia.
This year’s election in Georgia has been marked by escalating tensions, with the country facing democratic challenges and increasing influence from Russia.

In an effort to address Georgia’s low voter turnout, United Space offers rewards not only for voting but also for various forms of civic engagement. The platform features a program called “Points and Ownership,” allowing citizens to accumulate points and become stakeholders in key areas.
Giorgi Vashadze, MP and leader of the United National Movement, envisions a significant transformation of the democratic system, not only in Georgia but also globally.
“United Space will play a crucial role in establishing Georgia as a leading democracy worldwide. It will offer unparalleled privacy, accessibility, and user-friendliness for citizens engaging with the electoral process and public services,” Vashadze stated.
Kitty Horlick, Director at Rarilabs, highlighted that the app empowers citizens to become direct participants in the democratic process, state assets, and public services.
