📈 What influences mortgage rates?

Mortgage rates are constantly changing, as they are influenced by various factors such as new inflation reports, job numbers, Fed meetings, global news, and more. Even small changes in the bond market can impact mortgage pricing.

This week doesn’t offer much in terms of economic data releases or events that could affect mortgage rates. Currently, the aftermath of the Federal Reserve’s meeting last week remains the focus.

While the Fed’s decision to raise the federal funds rate by 25 basis points was expected, the key takeaway from the meeting was the possibility of additional rate hikes in the future. Market reactions to economic data and the Fed’s actions are indicating the likelihood of one or more rate hikes by the end of the year.

Although the Fed’s actions have provided some relief to mortgage rates, they are not expected to decrease significantly. The upcoming release of August’s Personal Consumption Price Index could further impact rates based on inflation trends.
