Point.me Review: Limited Features, But OK for Beginners

Point.me was one of the pioneers in award flight search tools, allowing users to connect their loyalty accounts and filter live search results based on available points. However, with a number of newer services offering similar features but faster and more efficiently, Point.me seems to fall short in comparison.

While Point.me may be suitable for beginners, the free search option is limited to flights within the next 60 days. The standard plan costs $12 per month or $129 per year, while the premium plan costs $260 per year. This pricing is higher compared to competitors like PointsYeah ($100 annually) and Roame ($110 annually). However, holders of the Bilt World Elite Mastercard® Credit Card and certain American Express cards can access a complimentary limited version of Point.me.

Point.me also lacks certain key features such as the ability to receive alerts when new award space becomes available. Searches are slow, and results only show departures on specific days, from specific airports, and in specific cabin classes. This makes browsing for both economy and business class awards cumbersome and time-consuming compared to other tools like PointsYeah and Roame, which offer faster searches and more functionality for free users.

In terms of membership details, Point.me requires users to create a login and sign up for a membership to access the search tool. There are basic and premium membership tiers available, with both levels offering access to the same airline and bank loyalty programs, as well as alerts for price drops on specific routes.

One of the unique features of Point.me is its step-by-step booking instructions, which make it beginner-friendly. Users can easily compare cash and points rates to determine redemption value, and the platform also displays current point transfer bonuses. Additionally, users can set up price drop alerts for specific routes.

However, Point.me does have its shortcomings. The platform is known for slow searches, lacking unique features or alerts for new award space, and not supporting multi-city searches or multi-cabin searches. While the tool may be suitable for beginners looking for guided help and educational tools, more advanced users may find better value in other tools with more advanced features.

Overall, if you have access to a free limited-access subscription to Point.me through certain credit cards, it may be worth trying out the platform. But for more advanced users, tools like Seats.aero, PointsYeah, and Roame may offer a better value and more advanced functionality.
