Raiffeisen Bank International [RBI] is making significant strides in the crypto space, with Bitpanda by its side. Learn more about their plans for cryptocurrency trading in Central and Eastern Europe.

Bitpanda and RBI Partnership

The collaboration was announced on September 23. Bitpanda Enterprise will manage the crypto infrastructure, allowing RBI’s network banks to offer their own crypto services seamlessly.

This partnership will impact an RBI network serving approximately 18 million customers.

Each bank within the network will have the flexibility to customize their crypto offerings based on local regulations and market conditions.

CEO Michael Höllerer mentioned a surge in demand for crypto assets across RBI’s markets, with Bitpanda playing a key role in meeting this demand.

We are witnessing a growing interest in crypto assets within our markets, and we are partnering with a reputable player to address this demand.

Expansion Plans

Following a successful partnership with Raiffeisenlandesbank Niederösterreich-Wien in Austria in 2024, Bitpanda is now gearing up to expand into Albania, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia in 2027.

Christian Trummer, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Bitpanda, expressed his pride in bringing digital assets to millions of individuals in the CEE region.

While Austrian customers can already access the service, the rollout in the other countries is expected to commence in the first half of next year.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone for traditional banking, as customers will soon have access to cryptocurrency trading through their trusted bank.

Key Points

  • RBI and Bitpanda join forces to offer cryptocurrency trading to around 18 million customers.
  • Initial focus is on Central and Eastern Europe, starting with Austria and expanding to Albania, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic in 2027.
