The issuer of the world’s largest stablecoin has successfully completed its first full independent financial statement audit, receiving an unqualified clean opinion from a major firm.
Tether has announced that the audit of Tether International, S.A. de C.V.’s financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2025, was carried out by KPMG U.S. and met the highest standards set by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
KPMG conducted a thorough examination, physically counting and inspecting every individual gold bar held by the company. They reviewed the full balance sheet, reserves, liabilities, income statement, changes in equity, and cash flows.
The audit confirmed that reserves exceeded liabilities by $6.814 billion as of December 31, 2025, further enhancing Tether’s credibility in the market.
CEO Paolo Ardoino expressed his satisfaction, stating, “This marks a significant moment for the stablecoin industry. Our completion of the financial statement audit sets a new benchmark and showcases the leadership we’ve demonstrated in this sector since the beginning.”
The CFO also commented on the milestone achievement, saying, “This is a pivotal moment for Tether and the industry we serve. The audited financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2025, affirm reserves exceeding liabilities by $6.814 billion, validating the quality of the public attestation reports.”
This accomplishment follows years of quarterly attestations and benefits over 650 million users who rely on Tether for various financial activities such as savings, commerce, and remittances in emerging markets.
