The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the DFINITY Foundation have joined forces in a groundbreaking partnership to delve into the realm of sovereign cloud infrastructure and decentralized artificial intelligence for various public-sector ventures. This collaboration aims to drive digital transformation across governmental bodies, civil society organizations, and UNDP initiatives. With UNDP’s focus on sustainable development and public-sector support, coupled with DFINITY Foundation’s expertise in decentralized cloud and blockchain infrastructure, the partnership holds great promise for innovative solutions.
The partnership will encompass three key areas of focus. The SDG Blockchain Accelerator will see UNDP Country Offices experimenting with sovereign cloud infrastructure, AI software development, and decentralized AI applications for development projects. The Future of Work Academy will empower civil society organizations to create and test their own applications. Meanwhile, the Government Blockchain Academy will collaborate with governments and public institutions to design pilot frameworks aligned with local and national priorities.
These projects will leverage DFINITY’s Cloud Engines and Caffeine AI platform to assist organizations in constructing and managing applications within secure and locally governed digital environments. Additionally, the partners have outlined plans to investigate how these technologies can safeguard sensitive data, enhance digital resilience, and bolster local technical capabilities.
