Hyatt has recently unveiled its annual update to the World of Hyatt award program. While some changes may lead to increased redemption costs, the overall impact is not as severe as in previous years. Here are the key highlights of the 2025 World of Hyatt update:
You have time to book and save
The revised pricing will be effective for award reservations made on or after March 25, 2025. Reservations made before this date will maintain the current pricing if the property moves to a higher category. In case a property shifts to a lower category after your reservation, you will receive a refund for the points difference. Hyatt’s annual award chart update provides members with ample time to adjust their plans before the changes take effect.
Popular locations are becoming more expensive…
Notably, hotels in Japan have seen significant category increases, indicating the country’s continued popularity among travelers. Eleven properties are moving from category 4 to 5, restricting the use of category 1-4 free night certificates. This includes hotels like Hyatt Centric The Liberties Dublin and Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile. Consider making speculative bookings with certificates at these properties and be mindful of expiration dates.
…but it’s not all bad news
On the positive side, 33 properties will shift to a lower category, resulting in cheaper award stays. For instance, the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa is dropping from category 7 to 6, offering savings of 5,000 points per night. Hyatt maintains an award chart structure, unlike Hilton Honors and Marriott Bonvoy, which have adopted dynamic pricing. This consistency allows consumers to plan award redemptions more effectively.
