BitMart has shifted its focus from shutting down the exchange to exploring a restructuring plan, sparking more uncertainty among users regarding their funds.
The exchange is in the process of developing a potential recovery plan, but users are still seeking clarity on issues such as withdrawals, asset security, and the timeline for resuming normal operations.
BitMart Transitions From Shutdown to Restructuring
In a recent announcement on X, BitMart revealed that it is considering a restructuring plan as an alternative to a complete shutdown after consultations with users, stakeholders, and advisors.
“BitMart is developing a potential restructuring plan as an alternative to a full wind-down.”
While the plan may allow for a phased return of some services and distribution to creditors, it is still subject to legal, financial, operational, and regulatory reviews.
To facilitate this process, BitMart has enlisted White & Case as its restructuring counsel to collaborate with other advisors in evaluating options and devising a strategy for relaunching parts of the business.
A roadmap is currently being developed in conjunction with advisors, with another update expected by September 9, 2026.
Users Seek Clarity on Funds
The primary concern for users revolves around the status of withdrawals.
Even with the restructuring plan, BitMart has not confirmed a full resumption of withdrawals, instead indicating that a roadmap is under preparation and further details will be shared by September 9.
This lack of clarity has frustrated users seeking information on customer assets, reserve availability, fund destinations, and withdrawal timelines.
BitMart had previously announced a systematic wind-down on July 26, including the cessation of new registrations and deposits.
For now, the shutdown plan remains in effect despite the potential restructuring, with BitMart urging retail users to submit crypto withdrawal requests by August 26, 2026.
If the plan remains unchanged, the final closure of the platform is scheduled for January 31, 2027, marking the official end of BitMart’s services.
