Colbert Blames Trump, But Massive Losses Killed His Show

Entertainment industry progressives are notorious for shirking accountability for their failures, which poses a significant threat. They often target scapegoats for destruction while avoiding scrutiny themselves, leading to a string of botched projects and institutions. Like a destructive bacteria, they move from one endeavor to the next, breaking them down from within.

This behavior is exemplified by individuals like Stephen Colbert.

Between 2019 and 2025, The Late Show experienced a significant decline, losing approximately 25% of its peak viewership. Similar to other late-night comedy programs fixated on politics rather than humor, Colbert lost the ability to satirize his own side. Instead, he transformed into a propaganda mouthpiece for the establishment, promoting Covid hysteria and vaccine mandates.

Colbert’s pivot to woke activism tarnished his reputation as an entertainer. His association with the elites and promotion of a particular agenda led to financial losses for his show. Despite his belief that aligning with Hollywood’s narrative would secure his position, the reality was different.

The Late Show was bleeding money, with production costs far exceeding revenues. Advertisements dwindled, and the show faced a significant decline in viewership. In contrast, independent creators on platforms like YouTube garnered larger audiences with minimal resources.

Despite the cancellation of The Late Show, Colbert is likely to pursue other projects in the future. Hollywood has positioned him as a martyr for the woke movement, with corporate media framing his show’s demise as a political statement. However, the fundamental reason behind the cancellation was financial instability.

Satire, a cornerstone of comedy, requires highlighting uncomfortable truths while setting aside personal biases. Successful satirists are unafraid to critique their own beliefs. Colbert’s reluctance to mock the progressive elite and Big Pharma showcased his lack of courage in challenging powerful entities.

Colbert’s future projects, including involvement in a Lord of the Rings spin-off film, may not salvage his reputation. The narrative of him being silenced by the White House is unfounded, serving to stoke further political discord. Ultimately, Colbert’s decline in public respect may hinder his prospects in future endeavors, relegating him to a forgettable establishment figure.
