Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has asserted that he is standing up for the well-being of humanity by opposing the Trump Administration’s initiatives to reinstate law and order in the city through a federal law enforcement and National Guard surge.
Johnson delivered these statements in an interview on MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes, where he expressed, “To be very clear about what’s at stake and in order for our country to be a place of promise, hope, and opportunity for people around the globe who have called the city of Chicago their home, it is why we are so committed to ensuring that we’re protecting our democracy and defending humanity.”
He went on to say, “What this president has instigated in what he has escalated is absolutely an egregious attempt to have complete control over all of our cities.”

Johnson has proposed that federal agents who violate his new executive order prohibiting them from using city land for their deportation activities should face criminal charges.

Johnson proclaimed the creation of ‘ICE free zones’ shortly after reports emerged that the city refused to assist law enforcement officers responding to an attack on Border Patrol agents over the weekend.
“The Trump administration must cease the war on Chicago,” Johnson insisted, adding, “The Trump administration must cease this war against Americans. The Trump administration must cease its efforts to dismantle our democracy.”

Trump has called for the prosecution of both Johnson and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker for failing to safeguard ICE officers.

He has also strongly hinted at utilizing the Insurrection Act against residents in Portland and Chicago.
Recently, Pritzker stated that he would not comply with the Trump administration’s “ultimatum” to deploy Illinois National Guard troops, labeling it “absolutely outrageous and unamerican.”
“We must now start calling this what it is: Trump’s invasion,” Pritzker, who is taking legal action against the Administration, continued.
The Governor also likened the Trump administration to the Third Reich, just after cautioning against labeling political adversaries as ‘fascists.’
He continues to express his belief that Trump is militarizing cities as part of a larger scheme to manipulate or annul the midterm elections.
