As Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, celebrates its 70th anniversary this summer, Disney is pulling out all the stops with a grand celebration filled with joyous escapism.
The festivities kick off on May 16, 2025, and will continue throughout the summer of 2026. Expect a nostalgic trip down memory lane, vibrant parades, and a delightful array of novelty foods. The theme for this special occasion is “Celebrate Happy,” although it’s no secret that happiness comes at a price at the Happiest Place on Earth.
I had the privilege of attending a multi-day media preview, where Disney covered my hotel stay and park tickets. However, I purchased an additional ticket for my dad to join me because let’s face it, enjoying Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters is much more fun with company. We also indulged in various food items and extras, giving me a firsthand experience of what’s worth the splurge and what’s not.

Disney is embracing its history during the 70th anniversary celebration by incorporating elements that may resonate with guests from previous decades. Many of the new features pay tribute to classic shows and the park’s heritage, including:
-
“World of Color Happiness!”, a revamped version of the nighttime water and light show at Disney California Adventure, combines audio from Walt Disney’s 1955 opening-day speech with visuals from newer Disney films like “Inside Out,” “Tangled,” and “Encanto.”
-
The “Celebrate Happy” cavalcade is a mini parade that winds through the park, featuring characters like Duffy (Mickey Mouse’s bear) and ShellieMay (Duffy’s bear friend).
-
“Tapestry of Happiness,” a projection show on the iconic facade of “It’s a Small World,” pays homage to Disney artist Mary Blair, known for her work on films like “Cinderella” and “Alice in Wonderland,” as well as her contributions to the “It’s a Small World” attraction.
-
A historical walking tour is available for an additional $120 per person and may appeal to avid Disney enthusiasts. This tour covers seven decades of Disney history, provides expedited access to original park attractions, includes snacks, and offers reserved parade seating.
-
More than 70 new food items have been introduced, designed to be Instagram-worthy. From a churro dusted in ube sprinkles to a W.E.D. Chili Cheese Baked Potato inspired by Walt Disney himself, these culinary offerings cater to a range of tastes and preferences.
How to join Disneyland’s 70th on a budget
The real magic lies in finding ways to save money while still enjoying the celebration. Here are some strategies to help you stay within budget.
Buy discounted tickets this summer
During the period between May 16 and August 14, 2025, Disney is offering a special four-day ticket deal priced at just $100 per day, a significant discount compared to regular prices. Additionally, authorized resellers like Undercover Tourist may offer even lower prices. By purchasing tickets through these channels, you can save money and make the most of your visit.
Military personnel, Southern California residents, and individuals eligible for corporate discounts may also be able to access discounted Disney tickets.

Staying at a Disney-owned hotel offers perks like early park entry, allowing you to access popular rides before the crowds arrive. For those not utilizing this benefit, nearby hotels that accept loyalty points and offer complimentary breakfast may provide better value for your stay.
