HGP Intelligent Energy Partners with the Shaw Group for Nuclear Reactor Deployment

HGP Intelligent Energy has announced a partnership with the Shaw Group to deploy U.S. Navy submarine and aircraft carrier nuclear reactors at the DOE’s Paducah, Kentucky facility. This collaboration aims to bring the Navy’s successful nuclear program to support new energy initiatives such as Project Genesis.

In collaboration with Shaw Group, HGP’s CoreHeld Project will benefit from Shaw’s expertise in nuclear projects, including their work at Vogtle Units 3 and 4. Shaw’s scope of work includes engineering, procurement, and fabrication services for various nuclear-grade components.

The Paducah site, once home to the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant, is now a hub for nuclear fuel chain activities. With companies like General Matter and Global Laser Enrichment investing in uranium enrichment facilities, Paducah is emerging as a key player in the nuclear industry.

With the potential deployment of naval nuclear reactors at Paducah, Kentucky is well-positioned to participate in the Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campuses program. This initiative aims to consolidate the entire nuclear lifecycle within a single location, with Kentucky potentially becoming a leading candidate for hosting one of these mega-campuses.
