Latest US Attacks On Drug Boats Brings Total To 19, As Conservatives Urge Trump Stop Foreign Distractions

As more conservative voices urge President Trump to focus on domestic issues rather than foreign policy distractions, the Pentagon has carried out additional strikes on suspected drug boats off the coast of South America.

The latest strikes bring the total number of boats destroyed near Venezuela to 19, resulting in the deaths of over 70 suspected traffickers.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced two more strikes that occurred on Sunday, stating, “Yesterday, at the direction of President Trump, two lethal kinetic strikes were conducted on two vessels operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations.”

He added, “Both strikes took place in international waters with 3 male narco-terrorists on each vessel. All 6 were killed, and no US forces were harmed. The administration is committed to protecting the homeland and eliminating cartel terrorists who pose a threat to the country and its people.”

Despite the actions taken, there is a lack of specific evidence provided by Washington to prove the involvement of those targeted in drug smuggling or direct threats to the United States. Critics question why conventional interdiction methods by agencies like the Coast Guard or DEA are not utilized, instead opting for sudden drone strikes.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has accused President Trump of attempting to overthrow his government. The motive behind US actions could stem from Venezuela’s vast crude reserves, although extracting them with the country’s deteriorating infrastructure poses challenges.

Amidst these developments, The Federalist’s Sean Davis emphasized the need for President Trump to shift focus from foreign policy to the domestic economy to address the ongoing challenges faced by many Americans.

“Trump needs to ditch the foreign policy crap and focus all his attention on the domestic economy, which is still not working for the majority of people. Right now he looks weak and rudderless. Be mad all you want, but it’s the truth.

Newly minted college grads can’t find work and are saddled with debt. Where is their path to the American dream right now? Who is giving them a vision of a future worth fighting for?”

Sean Davis further expressed concerns about the lack of accomplishments, plans, and vision among congressional Republicans, highlighting the importance of addressing economic challenges faced by young Americans.

“You cannot have a viable country or future when half your country and all its young people are locked out of the economy and locked out of ever owning a home or much of anything beyond next month’s streaming subscription. Does anyone in Washington care about this? Anyone at all?”
