Over 66% of the global population is now using the internet, with the latest data indicating that the total number of users has reached 5.35 billion.

On the other hand, the number of mobile phone users has surpassed 5.6 billion as of early 2024, representing 69.4% of the world’s population.

This infographic, created by Visual Capitalist’s Bruno Venditti, displays the average price of 1 gigabyte (GB) of mobile data (in USD) as of January 2024 across 52 countries.

The data was gathered by We Are Social.

Key Highlights

Switzerland tops the list with the highest average price for 1 GB of mobile data at $7.29, followed by the United States at $6.00.

🇨🇦 Canada $5.37

India and Israel offer the most affordable mobile data, priced at $0.09 and $0.02 per GB, respectively. Intense competition among providers in these countries has driven prices down, with both nations boasting high smartphone market penetration rates.

The global average price for 1GB of mobile data stands at $2.59, with many European and African countries offering prices below this average.
