The bustling city of Washington, D.C. has always been a magnet for influential figures, including politicians, business magnates, and affluent individuals. This year is no exception, as a wave of officials and associates linked to the Trump Administration have invested in high-end properties in the capital, sparking what is known as the “Trump Bump” in the luxury real estate market. With a combined net worth of over $14 billion among Trump’s cabinet members in 2024, it comes as no surprise that the city’s luxury real estate market is thriving.

The trend of high-value transactions continues to dominate the scene, with notable purchases such as Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick’s record-breaking acquisition of a $25 million Foxhall estate in December 2024. The momentum has spilled over into 2025, with several multi-million dollar transactions already taking place.

While the prices of these properties are eye-watering, they are not uncommon in D.C., especially during the transition to a new administration. Proximity to the Capitol attracts lobbyists, officials, and executives who are willing to pay a premium for luxury living. However, it is worth noting that Florida and California still lead the pack in ultra-luxury real estate sales nationwide.

Here are some of the most expensive home sales in the Washington, D.C. metro area so far in 2025, based on data from Redfin.

Top Luxury Home Sales in Washington, D.C. for 2025

  • Sale Price: $23,000,000
  • List Price: $23,000,000

In March, tech mogul Mark Zuckerberg acquired a stunning 16,200 square-foot residence for $23 million, making it the third most expensive home sale in D.C.’s history. The property features modern-contemporary architecture, connected by glass walkways, and is enclosed by a 12-foot-tall iron fence.

  • Sale Price: $20,000,000
  • List Price: $19,995,000

Another notable sale was a grand estate that changed hands for $20 million in July, offering 8 beds, 11.5 baths, and expansive grounds spanning nearly an acre. The property, formerly the site of the Cafritz Mansion, boasts elegant interiors and meticulously landscaped gardens.
