Delta Air Lines has announced a new, exclusive partnership with Uber that will allow travelers to earn Delta SkyMiles on Uber rides and Uber Eats deliveries. The partnership was revealed at Delta’s keynote presentation at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) on Jan. 7.
Starting this spring, Uber will replace Lyft as Delta’s rideshare partner, giving Delta SkyMiles members the opportunity to earn miles for eligible rides and deliveries across the U.S. once they link their Uber and SkyMiles accounts.
Here’s a breakdown of how much members could earn:
– Airport rides: Earn 1 mile per dollar spent on UberX rides to and from airports.
– Premium rides: Earn 2 miles per dollar spent on premium rides, such as Uber Comfort or Uber Black.
– Uber Reserve: Earn 3 miles per dollar spent via Uber Reserve, a scheduled ride service that allows you to request trips in advance.
– Uber Eats Orders: Earn 1 mile per dollar spent on $40+ restaurant and grocery orders via Uber Eats.
If you fly Delta and use Uber or Uber Eats, this partnership offers a quick way to earn extra miles. However, there are some limitations. For example, you won’t earn miles on regular UberX rides unless the trip starts or ends at an airport. Additionally, the $40 minimum for Uber Eats orders to earn miles might be challenging to reach depending on your delivery size.
To get started earning Delta miles with Uber, you can join a waitlist that will notify you when the earning opportunities go live. Once launched, you’ll be able to link your Uber and Delta accounts to start earning miles on eligible purchases.
The miles you earn through Uber and Delta are stackable, meaning you can also earn Delta miles on those same purchases when you use Delta-branded credit cards, which offer Delta miles for everyday spending.
In addition to the Uber partnership, Delta announced other exciting developments for 2025 and 2026, including the launch of Delta Concierge, an AI-powered digital assistant in the Fly Delta app that offers personalized travel assistance. Delta also revealed a partnership with YouTube, allowing SkyMiles members to access YouTube Premium ad-free during their flights starting this summer. Furthermore, Delta will enhance its in-flight entertainment system in 2026 with cloud-based technology, 4K HDR QLED screens, Bluetooth connectivity, and features like a “Do Not Disturb” mode and announcement translations.
To maximize your rewards, you can use other credit card benefits with the Uber partnership. For example, cardholders of The Platinum Card from American Express receive up to $15 monthly in Uber Cash, plus a bonus of up to $35 in December for U.S. rides and Uber Eats orders. Similarly, American Express Gold Card holders receive a monthly $10 in Uber Cash for U.S. rides and Uber Eats orders. Enrollment is required, and you must add your card as a payment method in the Uber app and use it on Uber purchases to receive the credit.
In summary, Delta’s partnership with Uber offers a convenient way for travelers to earn extra miles, and with the added benefits of Delta-branded credit cards and other credit card perks, you can further maximize your rewards while enjoying a seamless travel experience.
